I am basically a hobbyist. I have completed 7 steel string acoustics. My first ones were finished with Truoil or rattle cans. I got a Fuji HVLP system and used EM6000 on my last one. I don't have a buffing arbor - yet. I buffed the finish on the last one with Harbour Frieght foam attachments on my hand drill. I found that if I clamped the hand drill onto my bench vise, I could control the buffing better by moving the guitar on the buffer rather that moving the hand drill around the guitar. I think it came out quite nice...

Okay - I am finishing up the EM6000 on 2 guitars; one is a L-00 and the other is a tele. I am looking for suggestions on the buffing the inside of the cutaway on the tele (but this could also apply to a cutaway acoustic). Stew-Mac's foam buffer attachments seem pretty pricey to me... I know they have a cone-shaped one that could work pretty well. But shezzz, $12 is kinda steep, especially since in wouldn't last that long...

Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions?

Thanks,
Steve

Make a paddle from a piece of high density (gray) foam pipe insulation glued to scrap wood to back a terry-cloth rag with paste compound. Might want a couple of different sizes. Flat ones come in handy too. Goes real quick and the rag is into the wash instead of fighting to clean the drill thing.
